There are four types of incident light illumination: bright field illumination for highly reflective and specular surfaces, partial bright field for uniform and homogeneous illumination of rough and matt objects, dome illumination for a shadow-free display of shiny surfaces and dark field illumination for highlighting defects and contours on dark surfaces.
Each of these lighting techniques therefore has specific areas of application and enables targeted illumination for various inspection tasks.
